Duties

As a Senior Industry Development Officer at AAFC, you will work directly with stakeholders in the agriculture and agri-food sector by referring them to government programs and services and providing them with market information and key contacts to help them export their products abroad. You will also be responsible for attending industry events such as Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and conferences, and conducting outreach activities with farmers, food processors and other agriculture-related stakeholders. The industry intelligence you gather at these meetings will be used to prepare various briefing products, evaluate project proposals, and provide program feedback to senior management. In addition, you will work directly with the provincial government, other federal departments and third-party agencies on the delivery of government programs.

Work environment

Regional Operations Directorate provides regional perspective to the Department's program, planning and corporate functions. Our teams have a unique regional intelligence function, providing thorough and detailed information and analysis on key regional issues, sectors and supply capacity. This role is supported through productive working relationships with provincial officials, representatives of industry, farmers, companies and other stakeholders.

Regional Offices are key actors on the ground, liaising with industry and provincial partners to provide strategic information and sound advice on external and internal risks.

All employees are working at least two (2) days per week or 40% of their work week on-site. A day on-site is not limited to a designated AAFC workplace, and can include a GCcoworking site, conference or work event, in-person training, meetings with stakeholders, etc.

Intent of the process

A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates will be established and used to staff positions with various tenures at the CO-02 level, in Québec City or Montréal, Québec.

In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process and there is a need, an acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunity may be considered.
