Campground/Janitorial Student (SU-01)
Perform a variety of duties to ensure parks facilities and campgrounds are clean and accessible for our visitors. Greet visitors and provide information and orientation related to facilities, services, programs, regulations, and safety precautions. Collect revenue using a point of sale system and complete daily sales deposits.
Student Heritage Communicator (SU-02)
Deliver on-site programs for specific audience needs using a variety of new and innovative approaches. Greet and orient visitors, respond to questions and provide information about National Historic Sites, Gros Morne National Park, other sites in the Field Unit, Parks Canada, and the surrounding areas.
Student Visitor Service Attendants (SU-03) – Visitor Information Centre / Entrance Kiosk / Camping
Welcome visitors in person or over the phone and give them information and directions regarding facilities, services, programs, events and regulations. Record, process and collect fees, issue permits, make reimbursements, sell and assign campsites where applicable. Work with a cash register, compile and record statistical data, fill out forms, sales reports, and bank deposits, and use a computer system or point of sale and booking system, helps with the sale of firewood.
Student Field Technician (SU-04)
Support the Resource Conservation team through collection of field data, including vegetation and wildlife surveys and environmental monitoring in front country and back country settings, as well as other activities such as GIS, data management, equipment maintenance and Visitor Safety.
Parks Canada in Western Newfoundland and Labrador offers a number of employment
options for students. Students are employed each summer in Gros Morne's
campgrounds, entrance gates and facilities in a variety of positions.
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
The intent of this process is to hire students for the summer 2024.

Operational Requirements:
• Candidates must be willing to wear the Parks Canada uniform and/or costume.
• Candidates must be willing to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
• Candidates must be willing to work outdoors and be exposed to various weather conditions while performing work requiring moderate physical effort
• Resource Conservation candidates must be willing to perform work requiring moderate physical effort in back-country areas in all weather conditions, this includes hiking on and off trails through varied terrains. (i.e. hiking/guided tours in natural environments).
• Candidates are responsible for their own transportation to/from the work location – transportation is not provided.
• Student housing is limited in Gros Morne National Park and may not be available for all candidates interested in that work location.
Reliability Status security clearance - - Required
• Successful candidate may be required to possess and maintain a valid class 5 driver’s
licence, if applicable to the position.
