We are looking to hire outgoing, responsible, team focused Visitor Services Attendants to work at the Park Entry Gates, Campgrounds kiosks, and the Visitor Information Centre in Elk Island National Park.
Working as part of the Visitor Services Attendant team, you will be responsible to welcome visitors into the park and provide visitor services and revenue collection at the various locations. This includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: entry fees and permits, camping, trails, outdoor recreation, points of interest, safety, and park regulations and policies.
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
The intent is to hire for positions starting May 2024.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Parks Canada Agency, whose tenure could vary depending on the position being staffed.

ASSET QUALIFCATIONS: The following qualifications may be applied and/or assessed because they are beneficial in carrying out the duties of the position. They may be used in screening, assessment or determining right fit for this selection process.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge of the natural and cultural history of Elk Island National Park.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in handling cash, operating point of sales, sales reports and bank deposits.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Security Screening: Obtain and maintain Reliability Status Clearance throughout your employment with Parks Canada;
• Obtain and maintain valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
• Willingness to perform duties in various locations.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment;
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
The position requires the incumbent to:
• Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged period and/or to clean facilities/grounds;
• Medium physical effort to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs;
• Be exposed to variable weather conditions;
• Work alone with little to no supervision;
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others;
• Wear a Parks Canada Uniform and abide by uniform policy;
• Have reliable transportation to get to and from workplace.
