About the position

Duties
The Supervisor contributes to the planning, coordination and supervision of projects and ongoing activities related to the circulation, storage and records management of onsite collections, as well as the supervision of staff.
They are responsible for the delegation of tasks, assessing staff performance and taking corrective measures as needed. They will also be responsible for developing and implementing procedures including delivering training sessions to staff.
Work environment
Work is situated in an office space and standard warehouse environment that can be dusty with temperature fluctuations. Please note that virtual work is not possible as the duties of the position require the employee to be present at the work site full time. The office is located in Winnipeg, MB.
Intent of the process
This process is intended to staff one (1) indeterminate EC-03 position located in Winnipeg, MB.
A pool of qualified candidates may also be established and could be used to staff similar positions at Library and Archives Canada across Canada, with various linguistic requirements and/or for various durations depending on the positions to be filled.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness and ability to work full-time on site;
- Willingness and abilityto work overtime, on short notice;
- Willingness and ability to work up to 10 meters in height (32.8 feet), on occasion;
- Willingness and ability to work in a warehouse and/or processing room type environment, which can be dark, dusty and containing mold at times;
- Willingness and ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE);
- Willingness and ability to safely lift and move boxes weighing up to 22.8 kilograms (50 lbs).

EDUCATION
ED1: Successful completion of two years of a post-secondary program with an acceptable specialization in social sciences, statistics, library/archival work or a law-related field.
Notes:
1. At the discretion of the Manager, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education prescribed above. When this minimum education has been met using this alternative, it is only for the position in question and must be re-evaluated for future appointments and transfers where this alternative has been specified by the manager.
2. “Social sciences” include economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology and other disciplines associated with the social sciences. “Library/archival work” includes functions related to the art galleries and museums.

EXPERIENCE
EXP1: Experience in planning operational activities* or projects;
*Operational activities: all activities such as, but not limited to, production, quality of work, achievement of results, etc.
EXP2: Experience in coordinating activities or resources to ensure the effective delivery;
EXP3: Experience organizing and supervising the work of a team.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
AED1: A Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution  in Library Science and Information Management or in another field relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE
AEX1: Experience using an asset, materials and data management system;
AEX2: Experience planning and coordinating operations in an environment records office or museum institution (e.g. archive center, museum, library, gallery, etc.);
AEX3: Experience providing services to clients.
