About the position

Duties
The Chief of Residential Housing Projects and Maintenance leads the technical team responsible for housing maintenance, capital projects, inspections, and the overall management of technical operations.
Duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
📝 Lead the development of various residential housing projects, documentation, and reports, including financial and cost-analysis components for the residential management and technical services programs.
🏅 Provide leadership in managing and delivering technical services in support of the housing program.
📏 Ensure compliance with regulatory and operational policies and standards.
🤝 Establish professional relationships with clients and stakeholders, and provides guidance on technical requirements for CFHA’s residential housing units.
🔎 Investigate and resolve operational issues in CFHA’s residential housing units.
☕ Lead, manage, and develop a team delivering technical and operational housing services in support of CFHA’s residential portfolio.

As a Special Operating Agency reporting to the Department of National Defence (DND), CFHA contributes to the quality of life of CAF members and their families through the provision of housing services, and through the responsible and sustainable management of the Department’s housing infrastructure. We are a team of 380 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 230 employees at our Housing Services Centers across Canada and 150 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.
CFHA Edmonton is a dynamic team of 16 full-time employees. We work together to provide housing services to over 500 Canadian Forces families. Intent of the process
The immediate need is to staff one English Essential position on a permanent basis at the CFHA Edmonton (AB) location. A pool will be established and may be used to staff future positions at the CFHA Edmonton location, including both permanent and temporary positions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Recent and acceptable driver’s abstract.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s licence holding a qualification (class) equivalent to the DND vehicle to be operated.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver's licence.
• Utilizing necessary equipment and clothing in compliance with safety regulations.
• Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
• Incumbent must maintain the capacity to perform the essential duties of the position on-site at the designated work location.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willing and able to travel.
• Willing and able to work overtime on an occasional basis.
• Willing and able to meet the occasional requirement to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces or at heights such as second storey roofs.

• EDU. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (See note).
Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a) Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b) Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the EG classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EG classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.
