About the position

Duties
As a Project Officer, National Accommodations, you will participate in the design and planning of workplace environments. You will analyze requirements, prepare space plans, and develop functional and innovative design solutions. You will coordinate major accommodation projects while ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, budgetary, and scheduling requirements, and provide expert advice on workplace planning and building operations.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process (job advertisement) is to staff bilingual (BBB/ BBB) positions on an indeterminate basis in the National Capital Region and to establish a pool of fully or partially qualified candidates to fill current and future staffing needs. This pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions within Transport Canada.
The office is located at 330 Sparks Street, Tower C, Ottawa, Ontario.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
Successful completion of a post-secondary education program from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Interior Design or a related educational field (ex Technician in Architecture)

EXPERIENCE
Experience in preparing interior layouts which include furniture plans, construction drawings and determining finishes or colours.
Experience in preparing cost estimates and managing a project budget.
Experience in preparing a project schedule.
Experience in the planning and designing of office spaces using AutoCAD.
Experience in providing expert advice* on major** projects and in managing major** projects for successful delivery, which includes managing contractors of different trades and coordinating between stakeholders (clients, contractors, IT professionals, moving companies, etc.) to ensure successful project delivery.
NOTES:
*Expert advice is defined as having knowledge in building operations and being able to guide others based on this knowledge.
**Major projects are defined as experience in large-scale projects including:
- Construction of new buildings or spaces
- Renovations of existing spaces
- Decommissioning (closing or repurposing spaces)
- Designing office layouts or building interior spaces
