About the position

Duties
📌 Real Property Operations Unit Ontario Detachment Borden (RPOOU(O) Det Borden) is located at Canadian Forces Base Borden. RPOU(O) Det Borden is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all DND Infrastructure at CFB Borden, CFB Meaford, and Barrie and Owen Sound Armouries.
As a Junior Engineer, you will support program development and management by validating project requirements, incorporating Government of Canada initiatives, and prioritizing projects for planning. You'll collaborate with stakeholders to develop Statements of Requirements and cost estimates, while identifying supplementary requirements. During project execution, you'll engage design teams, procure consultants, and ensure compliance with tender documents. Additionally, you'll monitor project scope, cost, and schedule, manage changes, and complete necessary administrative tasks for project closeout.

🏢 In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 4 days each week, or 80% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill four (4) EN ENG 03 English Essential indeterminate position in Borden.

⭐ EDUCATION
🔹 Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
AND
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
Note:
1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

🔹EX1: Experience in the design or implementation of construction projects (new construction, maintenance, or renovations) demonstrating expertise in one of the following disciplines and a general understanding of at least two others:
• Architectural engineering
• Mechanical engineering
• Electrical engineering

• Civil engineering
🔹EX2. Experience preparing technical plans, reports, surveys, inspections, or design documents, and applying engineering principles to interpret applicable codes, standards, regulations, and legislation.
🔹EX3. Experience performing asset analyses, preparing cost estimates and bills of material, and providing technical recommendations to support project delivery and management decision-making.
🔹EX4. Experience managing multiple infrastructure projects from initiation to closure, including new construction, recapitalization, environmental assessment, or remediation projects.
🔹EX5. Experience preparing reports, presentations, briefing notes, and correspondence for senior management (Director level or equivalent and above).

Experience as an Electrical Engineer inspecting building electrical systems, evaluating system performance or operations (power quality and harmonic analysis), conducting fault and arc flash analysis and reviewing or evaluating protection settings for Low and Medium Voltage distribution systems.
🔹AEX7. Experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer inspecting building structural systems (building envelope and structural supports) and evaluating civil or municipal system performance or operations (sanitary systems or water distribution systems or road or pavement conditions).
🔹AEX8. Experience as a Mechanical Engineer inspecting building mechanical systems (district energy, heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing and building mechanical equipment) and evaluating facility related mechanical system performance/operations.
🔹AEX9. Experience working in the Federal Public Service or in Defence Construction Canada .
🔹AEX10. Experience using cost estimate software such as RS Means Online or Manual.
