About the position
Duties📢 The official position location is Montréal. However, the duties are performed in the Anichinabé community of Lac Simon, near Val‑d’Or, Québec. This is a unique work experience within an Indigenous community. A full‑time telework arrangement could be established, depending on the operational needs of the position
Community dental hygienists work closely with Indigenous communities, oral health service providers, as well as other healthcare professionals and key stakeholders to assess needs, plan, develop, and coordinate comprehensive oral health services within the Community Oral Health Services (COHS) program.
The position involves delivering oral health services directly within Indigenous communities, including screening, assessment, and the provision of preventive and restorative care in accordance with the dental hygienist’s scope of practice. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining confidential records and providing care in compliance with professional standards and infection prevention and control protocols.
Community dental hygienists also contribute to the implementation of oral health promotion initiatives, education, and disease prevention activities. In this capacity, they actively collaborate with oral health teams and community partners to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality services that are responsive to community needs.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements, security requirements, various conditions of employment, various locations and durations (acting, assignment/secondment, deployment, term and/or indeterminate) within Indigenous Services Canada.

EDUCATION:
Postsecondary school diploma in dental hygiene from a recognized institution.

ACCREDITATION:
Member in good standing of the Ordre des hygiénistes dentaires du Québec (OHDQ)
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in oral health promotion and patient education.
• Experience working with community partners and health professionals.
• Experience working with Indigenous communities or diverse populations.
Applied / assessed at a later date
ABILITIES:
• Ability to organize, implement, and deliver a community oral health program.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally.
• Ability to use and maintain portable dental equipment.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION:
