About the position
Duties
Set up experiments in greenhouse/growth chamber environments assessing the effects of AMF on crop growth properties and soil carbon sequestration. Tend to crop pots in greenhouse/growth chamber. Sample crop phenology and other production endpoints.
Work environmentWork with AAFC staff in greenhouse and growth chamber environments. Work in wet and dry labs at Ottawa Research Development Centre conducting soil/plant analyses.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a PhD program in a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in Biology.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and you must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term. The student must meet the eligibility requirements to enroll at the University of Ottawa.

Experience:
Experience* in implementing computational frameworks for genomic analysis, with expertise in RNA sequencing, machine learning for predictive modeling, and experimental data integration.
Experience* in setting up experimental designs.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
Applied / assessed at a later date
Knowledge:
Knowledge of machine and deep learning.
Knowledge of multi omics.
