About the position
DutiesThis role involves supervising a technical team responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electronic communication systems used in government buildings, and facilities. The supervisor ensures equipment operates correctly by testing systems, diagnosing issues, repairing components, and restoring service, while also overseeing technical investigations and experiments. They provide expert advice and guidance on all aspects of electronic systems, including installation, calibration, evaluation, and upgrades.
The position requires strong technical knowledge of electronics and communications systems, along with the ability to interpret specifications, analyze data, and use specialized tools and software. The supervisor also manages planning, reporting, budgeting input, and maintenance tracking.
In addition to technical duties, the role includes leading staff, ensuring safety compliance, monitoring performance, and supporting employee development. The work can be physically demanding and is performed in both workshop and field environments, sometimes under challenging or hazardous conditions.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) EL-05 position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Kingston, Ontario.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

Top Secret security clearance - *Important Information: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. In line with the Directive on Security Screening, candidates must hold Canadian citizenship to obtain this level of clearance.

CO2. Possession of a valid and unrestricted Provincial Driver’s Licence.
CO3. Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driver’s licence.

EX 1: Experience servicing and repairing programmable Intrusion alarm panels, Access Control panels and Network security cameras.
EX 2: Experience working with security system management or monitoring software for configuration, diagnostics, or system oversight.
EX 3: Experience providing technical supervision, coaching, or coordination of technicians, employees, or apprentices.
