About the position

Duties
▶ Lead and supervise a team of avionics technicians responsible for aircraft systems maintenance
▶ Plan and oversee avionics maintenance, installation, modification, and repair activities to ensure operational readiness
▶ Ensure compliance with airworthiness standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
▶ Provide technical expertise in aircraft electrical and avionics systems and resolve complex defects
▶ Coordinate work schedules, priorities, and operational requirements
▶ Monitor quality, safety, and maintenance activities to ensure adherence to approved standards
▶ Manage team performance and foster a respectful and collaborative workplace
▶ Communicate effectively with stakeholders and management on operational and technical matters
▶ Support administrative and financial responsibilities, including delegated authorities as required
▶ Maintain team training, certification, and operational capability in avionics systems

Intent of the process

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OR1: Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities.
OR2: Willingness and ability to work in a flexible environment on a variable day or shift work schedules, including weekends or overtime or short notice, and occasional standby during designated rest days.
OR3: Willingness and ability to work in various positions on aircraft and in the hangar, and in non-hangered environments, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.
OR4: Willingness and ability to obtain Delegated Financial Signing Authorities as a Responsibility Centre Manager.

Education
ED1: Successful completion of a post-secondary training program in avionics maintenance, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Occupational Certification:
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License, Category E.
Experience
EX1: Recent and significant* experience as an E license Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining, modifying and installing avionics equipment and systems on fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, while exercising the associated Aircraft Certification Authority (ACA) privileges.
EX2: Recent and significant* experience performing on-aircraft scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections and calibrations of avionics systems and equipment on fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.
EX3: Minimum six (6) months experience as Team Leader responsible for maintaining, installing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting aircraft avionics systems.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as at least six (6) years relevant working experience within the last eight (8) years.

AEX1: Maintenance type training and/or experience maintaining one or more of the following aircraft types:
- Bombardier Challenger 600/601/604/650/RJ
- De Havilland Dash-7/Dash-8 Series
- Bell 412
- Bell 429
- Bombardier Global Series
AEX2: Experience managing financial resources, or possession of Government of Canada Delegated Financial Authorities, or completion of Canada School of Public Service Authority Delegation training.
AEX3: Experience developing or maintaining maintenance and reliability programs
AEX4: Experience or training on Class 1/2/3 Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS)
