Work environment

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one (1) position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Borden, Ontario.
🔷This is an inventory process, and candidates will be assessed continuously during this period. Apply early to be considered for immediate vacancies.

EDUCATION
▶ ED1: A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).
Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
o A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
o An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
c. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
d. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the GT classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the GT classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
▶ OC1: Completion of any of the following certifications:
- Road and Vehicle Safety Specialist (AHNV) from the Canadian Armed Forces.
OR
- Level 3 (or higher) Technical Collision Investigator from a regional, provincial, or federal police force.
OR
- Industry provided equivalent, such as:
• ACTAR (Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction)
• Forensic Collision Investigative Solutions (FCIS) Canada – Collision Reconstruction & Technical Training
• The Canadian Association of Technical Accident Investigators and Reconstructionists (CATAIR) - Crash Data Retrieval Analysis and Applications course.
• Society of Automobile Engineers (SAE) international Vehicle Crash Reconstruction: Principles and Technology
• Advantage fleet services INC. Commercial Vehicle Collision Reconstruction Course
• Other industry equivalent that would be deemed acceptable by the employer

▶ AEX1: Experience working as an instructor in a trade school, community college or military technical trade school.
▶ AEX2: Experience in developing and validating training material and executing exercise scenarios.
▶ AEX3: Experience teaching any of the following:
• Providing technical advice on all aspects of road and vehicle safety
• Advising on Vehicle Safety Inspections
• Administering a driver’s licencing program
• Conducting vehicle collision investigations
• Analyzing vehicle collisions
• Promoting road and vehicle safety programs
▶ AEX4: Experience instructing the operation of a motor vehicle airbrakes system
▶ AEX5: Hold a valid provincial or territorial driver’s license with an Airbrakes endorsement
