About the position
DutiesThe Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs (FJA) was established in 1978 to safeguard the independence of the judiciary and provide services to federally appointed judges.
The Federal Courts Reports, which are published by FJA, are the official reports of the decisions of the Federal Court of Appeal and of the Federal Court. Only those decisions that are deemed by the Editor to be of sufficient significance or importance are published in the Reports.
The Production and Publication Manager is responsible for managing the production and publication of the Federal Courts Reports in print and electronic formats. This includes overseeing non legal editing and proofreading of selected decisions; coordinating translation, composition, printing, Web publication, and distribution; and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality in both official languages. The incumbent also manages publication processes, contracts, and resources and contributes to section management and planning activities.
Work environmentOur offices are located at 99 Metcalfe Street, in the heart of downtown Ottawa. The area is served by major bus routes and a light rail station, and employees have access in the building to amenities such as kitchens, showers, change rooms, secure bicycle storage. Parking is available nearby, at the employee's expense. Close to our building, you'll find many coffee shops, restaurants and other essential services.
Currently, all employees are expected to work on-site for a minimum of 3 days (4 days starting July 6, 2026) per week established by the employer. Please note that these conditions are subject to change.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) determinate position for a period of 12 months.
A fully or partially assessed pool may be created and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the same or equivalent group and level, with various tenures and security requirements within the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs Canada.

Please note that achieving a pass mark on any of the assessment used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a cut-off mark that is higher than the pass mark on any evaluation used throughout the process.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

Experience
EX1: Experience in supervising employees.
EX2: Experience managing projects or workflows with various timelines.
EX3: Experience using advanced editing and review features of electronic word processing or document management tools (e.g. track changes, comments, styles, version comparison, macros) to revise and validate documents.
EX4: Experience working with contracts or agreements involving external service providers, including interpreting requirements and deliverables.
