Work environment
At Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF) we offer a variety of opportunities for tradespersons, professionals, apprentices, and students to work in a large ship repair yard. Our civilian and military employees work together to provide agile, quality engineering and technical service to support the Royal Canadian Navy Fleet. Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) EL-05 position and one (1) EL-06 position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

▶ Willing and able to work in ships and submarines while alongside or at sea (submarine surfaced or submerged) including conducting boat, helicopter or other type transfers to/from ships and submarines at sea.
▶ Willing and able to work in land and air environments, both static and in motion.
▶ Willing and able to work overtime/shift if required and are required to be available for Standby Duties.
▶ Willing and able to travel, both nationally and internationally.
▶ Willing and able to comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
▶ Willing and able to participate in training sessions, which may include self-study, classroom sessions, hands-on/practical coursing and OJT.

1.Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.
EL-05:
▶Acceptable training alternatives include Royal Canadian Navy Weapons Engineering (WEng) RQ-S1/QL5, Information Management Director (IMD) Level, or equivalent experience (civilian or military)
EL-06:
▶Acceptable training alternatives include Royal Canadian Navy Weapons Engineering (WEng) QL-6B, Information Management Director (IMD) Level, or equivalent experience (civilian or military) in a Tactical Data Link (TDL) technical/operational environment.

EL-05 & EL-06
▶EX1. Experience in designing or troubleshooting a IPv4 based Local Area Network or telecommunications to verify system performance.
▶EX2. Experience in developing and conducting technical or operational test plans and documenting observations.
EL-06 ONLY:
▶EX3. Significant* experience in the analysis of Tactical Data Link (TDL) system performance.
▶EX4. Significant* experience in the operation, or development, or **maintenance of Canadian Armed Forces Combat or Mission Systems, including associated Tactical Data Link (TDL) sub systems.
*Significant experience will be assessed in terms of the depth, breadth of activities, the complexity and diversity of work handled, relevancy of activities and transferability of the specific skillset required for the position.
**Maintenance is defined as sufficient depth and breadth of preventive and corrective actions, complex system/equipment assessments, and software system/equipment installation.
