About the position

Duties
The job is responsible for providing a full range of Library services to meet the information needs of CER employees, industry stakeholders, and other external clients. Library staff are expected to assess and respond effectively to the needs of clients, making excellent customer service the priority. The job includes, but is not limited to, reference, research, and circulation duties. It ensures effective operations of the Library through acquisitions, cataloguing, publications management and the processing of Library information resources and regulatory documents in compliance with central agency and CER policies and procedures.

Intent of the process
Intent to staff one term position. (Approximately 1 year.)
A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be created to fill similar positions at the same or lower levels, with varying language requirements, security clearances, conditions of employment, and appointment types (e.g., term, acting, assignment, or permanent). The CER has the following forms of additional compensation that are separate from base salary, the eligibility for which is determined, in accordance with the provisions in the collective agreement or terms and conditions of employment for the duration period specified:
• Annual performance pay which includes elements of individual performance and corporate performance.

This position is located in Calgary, Alberta and candidates must be willing to relocate to Calgary. A minimum of four days per week are required to be in the office.

Education: Successful completion of a post-secondary program in Library Information Technology or Library Studies.

Experience:
E1 Experience delivering Library services, including conducting reference interviews and retrieving information from physical and electronic holdings.
E2 Experience cataloguing and classifying library resources using established standards, including assigning subject descriptors and cross-references.
E3 Experience using automated library systems and cataloguing tools to manage and circulate library materials and generate reports within the organization.
E4 Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel).
