About the position
DutiesParks Canada is looking for the ideal candidate to fill the position of Asset Support Technician for the Banff Field Unit.
• Advise on the condition and performance of built infrastructure to inform operational, maintenance, and capital planning decisions, including input into maintenance planning activities;
• Collect, analyze, and manage data required for the active lifecycle management of built infrastructure, including asset condition, usage, user needs, hazardous materials, maintenance history, and procurement/disposal costs;
• Conduct, coordinate, and review asset condition inspections, including; completing and reviewing internal condition inspections, managing and reviewing contracted inspections and reports, coordinating the entry and validation of inspection results and recommendations within databases;
• Develop, maintain, and revise asset records and metrics, including recommendations for updates to Overall Asset Condition (OAC) ratings and Current Replacement Values (CRV);
• Develop, review, and manage Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manuals by reviewing completed O&M manuals and inputting maintenance requirements into Maximo, developing O&M manuals where none exist, and coordinating input from appropriate professionals as required;
• Develop contract documents and manage maintenance contracts for built infrastructure;
• Develop and manage systems, databases, and integrations to support built infrastructure management, including the integration of asset data with GIS and financial systems;
• Complete all tasks noted above in accordance with the requirements set out in applicable Government of Canada policies and directives.

EDUCATION:
Secondary School diploma supplemented by post-secondary education applicable to this position. A combination of education, experience and training relevant to the position may be considered.

EXPERIENCE IN:
• Experience in researching and applying Government policies and directives to inform workplace decision making;
• Experience in producing or supporting the production of contract documents for the purpose of procuring goods and services in a work environment;
• Experience collecting and analyzing large amounts technical data and maintaining technical records and accurately estimating materials/resources for projects/maintenance;.
• Experience in inspection of built assets to identify deficiencies or maintenance requirements.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Knowledge of Parks Canada's built assets and their role in relation to the agency's corporate priorities, mandate and objectives;
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe work practices pertaining to asset management and operations;
• Knowledge of the principals, theories, techniques and practices associated with asset management and maintenance.
ABILITIES:
• Ability to write technical documents such as technical memos, statements of work, and requests for proposals required to procure services from contractors;
• Ability to read and understand technical documents such as installation manuals, operating and maintenance manuals, condition assessments and design drawings/specifications;
• Ability to research, gather and assemble information from a wide range of sources to present to management and make informed recommendations;
• Ability to establish priorities, organize work and implement multiple projects with competing stakeholder interests.

Asset Qualifications:
The following qualifications may be applied and/or assessed because they are beneficial in carrying out the duties of the position. They may be used in screening, assessment or determining right fit for this selection process, so please describe how you meet any of the following criteria.
• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, commercial building repair/maintenance, equipment repair/maintenance, electrical and/or HVAC systems maintenance and operation;
• Experience completing code compliance inspections;

• Experience using a variety of computer applications for data entry, data management and report writing (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, Geographic Information Systems etc.).
