Duties
Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency buildings/facilities and grounds to enhance the visitor experience.

Intent of the process
This process is intended to fill one temporary position from May 2026 to September 2026.
This process will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - ◼️ Possession and maintenance of a valid driver's licence (Manitoba class 5 or equivalent)
◼️ Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protection equipment
◼️ Willing and able to obtain First Aid certification
◼️ Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions
◼️ Willing and able to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required

Operational Requirements

The position requires the incumbent to:
◼️ Conduct repetitive tasks
◼️ Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders
◼️ Lift supplies, tools and equipment such as buckets
◼️ Dust and wash walls and windows
◼️ Pick up litter and trash
◼️ Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements
◼️ Be exposed to noxious odours from cleaning products
◼️ Be exposed to minor injury when performing cleaning and maintenance activities
◼️ Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION
◼️ Successful completion of secondary school or acceptable combination of education, training, experience or conventional knowledge relevant to position

EXPERIENCE
◼️ Experience in providing cleaning services in a commercial or institutional environment
◼️ Experience in maintaining/restocking supplies
◼️ Experience in performing minor operational maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, tightening door handles and hinges)

KNOWLEDGE
◼️ Knowledge of Parks Canada, its mandate and values and principles
◼️ Knowledge of some of the services and facilities available at Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site and the Manitoba field unit, and in the local area
