About the position

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) position on a temporary basis in Viking, Alberta, and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment, and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.
NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Operational Requirements

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material
Willingness and ability to work overtime, if required
Willing and able to work at the Viking Detachment 5 days a week

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. *
* Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
Experience working with Microsoft Word and Exce

Ability to deal effectively with police situations
Attention to detail
Working effectively with others

Showing initiative and being action-oriented

Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).
Training and/or experience in providing financial support services such as the collection and recording of monies received, handling petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, preparing invoices
