About Us
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
Our Mission
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), as part of the criminal justice system and respecting the rule of law, contributes to public safety by actively encouraging and assisting offenders to become law-abiding citizens, while exercising reasonable, safe, secure and humane control.
Intent of the process
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff positions of various tenures including permanent or temporary.
Important messages
When you apply to this selection process, you are not applying for a specific job, but to an inventory for future vacancies. As positions become available, applicants who meet the qualifications may be contacted for further assessment.
Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their responses that they meet the essential education and experience qualifications. It is NOT sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. Rather you must clearly demonstrate HOW and WHERE the qualification was met through substantiation by examples. Information on your described skills, experience, etc. provided in the screening questions should be supported by your resume. Failure to provide sufficient information will result in the candidate being screened out and rejected from the process.
We may assess the essential and asset qualifications using interviews, written tests (take home assignments or other), references or a combination of these or other assessment methods. Other sources of information (such as performance agreements, work samples, board member knowledge, etc.) may be used to assess the criteria identified on the Statement of Merit Criteria.
You must be able to provide proof of your education credentials.
Persons are entitled to participate in the appointment process in the official language(s) of their choice.
A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
For this selection process, we will communicate with you by email. You must provide a valid email address to which you wish to receive communication regarding this selection process. It is your responsibility to inform of any change of address, telephone number and / or email address. You must ensure to check/view your email accounts including spam, promotion or other folders regularly as there may be a deadline for responses. Candidates who respond past the deadline risk being removed from the selection process.
🖊 Candidates will be required to provide thorough responses to all of the essential qualification questions. Indicating "refer to resume" is not a sufficient response. Failure to provide this information in the requested fields may result in your application being rejected.
Candidates MUST submit their application through the online system available at: GC jobs. Applications submitted in any other format will not be accepted. If there are limitations or special circumstances preventing you from submitting your application via the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) online portal, you must contact us and receive approval to apply via an alternate means PRIOR to the closing date.
📨 For screening and assessment purposes, all communications related to this selection process will be by email. Therefore, candidates must include a valid email address in their application. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that this address is functional and that it accepts messages from unknown users (some email systems block these types of email) and frequently check their inbox and JUNK/SPAM folders. It is also the candidate's responsibility to ensure accurate contact information is provided and updated as required, by communicating to the email indicated below.
Appointed candidates must report to the advertised location of work 5 days a week.
Helpful Tips:
• We recommend saving your answers in a text editing software, and copy-paste them into your job application.
• Save periodically to avoid losing your work should you encounter a connection problem. Also, if you close your browser without saving first, the system will not save your work and you will lose your information.
