About the position

Work environment
The positions are located in federal correctional institutions. Tradespersons employed in these areas are responsible to support the maintenance of the institutions and may directly supervise and train inmates.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requirement to lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kilograms.
Valid driver’s license.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to travel to various locations.
Willingness to work within correctional facilities.
Willingness to work with/or instruct inmates where applicable.
Willingness to work overtime, holidays, shift-work for a 24/7 institutional establishment.
Willingness and ability to perform testing and work on backflow prevention devices, as well to obtain a backflow prevention tester certification if not already certified.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Possession of a valid Journeyperson Plumber Certification (Provincial or Interprovincial).
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewage, plumbing and various piping systems and lines in a manufacturing, industrial or institutional environment.
Experience interpreting and applying safety precautions and practices associated with plumbing work.
Applied / assessed at a later date
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of workplace health and safety.
ABILITIES
Ability to use and provide instruction on the use of plumbing equipment and tools.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.

Dependability

EDUCATION
Successful completion of any work related continuing education courses related to relevant facility maintenance or workplace safety.
