About the position

Duties
As an Asset Support Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of water treatment and utility assets across the site. Working closely with the Asset Officer and Utility Shop, you will provide hands on technical support, monitoring, and reporting throughout the operational season.
Your key duties will include:
•Water Quality Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor water quality at all treatment facilities, collect samples, and coordinate laboratory testing. Review sample results, identify trends or issues, and implement or recommend corrective actions as required.
•Facility & Equipment Oversight
Ensure all treatment facility equipment is in proper working order. Perform routine adjustments and operational checks to maintain optimal performance and address minor issues before they escalate.
•Legislative Maintenance Inspections & Safety Compliance
Conduct legislated maintenance and safety inspections in accordance with applicable regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance. This includes, but is not limited to, inspecting and monitoring fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, ladders, emergency lighting, and related safety equipment. Document inspection results, identify deficiencies, and follow up on corrective actions in collaboration with the appropriate teams.
•Seasonal & Year End Reporting
Compile and analyze water sampling results throughout the operational season. Prepare comprehensive year end water quality reports and submit them to the Asset Officer for distribution to stakeholders.
•Operational Feedback & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate system performance and provide informed feedback on operational effectiveness. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through emerging technologies, including developing cost estimates and clear breakdowns of potential benefits.
•Asset Maintenance & Repairs
Collaborate with the Utility Shop to support routine maintenance, equipment servicing, and repairs, following direction and priorities to ensure asset reliability and longevity.
•Project Support
Assist with small to medium sized projects as directed by the Asset Officer. Provide hands on support throughout project execution, including coordination, basic technical tasks, monitoring progress, and contributing to successful and timely completion.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of fieldwork, technical analysis, and collaboration, and who is motivated to contribute to the continuous improvement of essential infrastructure systems.

Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License

Operational Requirements

•Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
•Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
•Willingness to obtain valid operator in training certificate and work to fully certified water treatment level 2 operator certification
•Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment

EXPERIENCE
•Experience in inspection of built assets to identify deficiencies or maintenance requirements
•Experience in managing the implementation of medium-sized projects including managing contracts, monitoring, reporting, and performance evaluation
•Experience using a variety of computer applications for data entry, data management and report writing (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, databases, Geographic Information Systems etc.)

•Knowledge of the principals, theories, techniques and practices associated with asset management and maintenance
•Knowledge of routine water and wastewater sampling and procedures
•Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe work practices pertaining to asset management and operations

•Ability to establish priorities, organize work and implement multiple projects with competing stakeholder interests
