You must have a minimum of a Canadian secondary school (high school) diploma. If your education was obtained outside Canada, you must get an equivalency assessment. Contact the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials to find out which organizations across Canada perform these assessments (www.cicic.ca).

You must be physically fit at the time of application. Physical fitness is a discipline that develops over time. It's necessary for safety, well-being and longevity in law enforcement. You will be asked to complete a physical fitness test at some point during the application process.

Preference will be given to veterans first, followed by Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of jobs located in Nunavut or Yukon. For positions located in Nunavut, qualified Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement will be appointed first. For positions located in Yukon, qualified Yukon First Nations will be appointed first, followed by qualified Indigenous persons.
