About the position
DutiesParks Canada is looking for the ideal candidate to fill the position of Technical Services Coordinator for the Banff Field Unit. The position provides project management services, expertise, advice and guidance in the planning and managing of multiple construction projects in relation to built assets. The position will work closely with other functions and users to plan, construct, repair, improve and better assets throughout the Banff Field Unit.
Built assets include some combination of cultural resources; fortifications; visitor facilities (buildings, trails, boardwalks, campgrounds, day-use facilities); road and highway infrastructure including bridges; marine infrastructure (dams, locks, walls); municipal infrastructure systems (potable water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, electrical distribution,, radio communications, solid waste, petroleum storage, and climate control); and, grounds (historic and recreational landscapes).

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Graduation from a post-secondary institution with a degree in engineering or architecture (i.e. University degree) or with a diploma in engineering technology or architectural technology (i.e. College diploma) combined with 3 to 4 years of experience in construction and project management related to built assets.
• OR Interprovincial Journeyperson Certificate (Red Seal) in a related construction trade (ie Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber, Gasfitter etc) combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and project management related to built assets.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered with relevant education and experience in construction and project management related to built assets
* Experience – Recent and relevant experience that is within Canada and in relation to built assets.

EXPERIENCE IN:
• Experience in the management, inspection and assessment of built assets;
• Experience in planning, executing, monitoring & onsite supervision of construction projects;
• Experience establishing, leading and working closely with multi-disciplinary teams of technical specialists and coordinating work with internal/external stakeholders;
• Experience in the management of human and financial resources and in contract management;
• Experience in the management of consultant’s and contractor’s performance, quality of work, regulatory compliance and contractual requirements;
• Experience in writing technical documents such as requests for proposals and statements of work required for the provision of contracted services.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
• Parks Canada Agency’s built assets and their role in relation to the Agency’s corporate priorities, mandate and objectives;
• Principles and best practices associated with asset management, with project & construction management and maintenance planning;
• Current codes, standards and construction methods related to built works.
ABILITIES:
• Analyse and synthesize complex information including technical drawings and specifications;
• Manage project team members (including internal stakeholders, consultants and contractors), to work effectively in a team environment and to resolve issues;
• Write technical documents such as request for proposals and statements of work required for the provision of contracted services;
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing;

ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS OR EXPERIENCES:
• Significant experience in managing construction phase services of built infrastructure in environmentally and culturally sensitive areas.
• Significant experience in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous Groups, to complete construction or rehabilitation of built assets.
• Knowledge of greening strategies related to construction projects in project planning, design and construction stages.
