About the position
Duties
• Conducts highway/road/street clearing and snow removal using medium, heavy and specialized vehicles and equipment requiring air-brake endorsement; and performs ancillary roadway maintenance and labour services for the Parks Canada Agency.
• Perform periodic maintenance of paved (asphalt) or gravel roads and vehicle accessible hiking trails. Crack and pothole repairs, cleaning ditches, and maintaining culverts.
• Excavating and backfilling technical installations for potable water and wastewater systems maintenance or new installations.
• Mow lawns, transport heavy materials, and install large equipment such as floating docks or walkways.
• Operate various vehicles such as highway semi tractors with trailers, street sweepers, vacuum/dump trucks with tandem and single axles, mechanical rams, excavators/backhoes, front loaders, graders, sanders, high speed snowplows with blade extensions and underbody snowplow blades, as well as power tools such as impact wrenches, jackhammers, chainsaws, and tampers.
• Maintain equipment; conduct inspections/checks; perform minor adjustments and repairs; replace cutting edges or teeth on plows and buckets.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

⮩ Willingness to work and/or travel in various locations and changing weather conditions;
⮩ Willingness to wear uniform and personal protective equipment in accordance with
safety rules;
⮩ Willingness to work irregular hours, work overtime, and work weekends and/or
holidays;
⮩ Willingness to be on a weekend availability schedule;
⮩ Ability to lift and carry loads of up to 22.7 kg.

• Possess accreditation of the Joint Association for the health and safety at work in the sector of construction (ASP building)
💼 EXPERIENCE:
────────────
⮩ Significant experience in operating commercial equipment and heavy equipment, including backhoes, wheel loaders, agricultural tractors equipped with mowers or blowers, dump trucks and salt spreaders
⮩ Experience of snow clearing
*By recent and significant, we mean a minimum of 1 year of experience acquired within the last 3 years.
