About the position

Duties
The Department of National Defence is seeking to employ Licensed/Registered Practical Nurses (LPN/RPNs) within their Canadian Forces Health Services Centres to support two key areas of responsibility: within Care Delivery Units (CDUs), where they contribute to the delivery of primary care, and within supported Canadian Forces Recruiting Centres (CFRCs), where they provide occupational health services. This staffing process is intended to support both settings, and the successful candidate may be required, based on operational needs, to provide coverage in the alternate setting (i.e., CDU or CFRC), as needed.
Key activities of this role include, but are not limited to:

♦ Assessing the health and well-being of patients
♦ Performing Nursing Interventions

🎓EDUCATION:
Graduation with a post-secondary diploma from an approved practical nurse program.
*Internationally educated nurses must provide a National Nursing Assessment Service (NNAS) Advisory Report that states that the nursing education received is assessed as being comparable to Canadian Entry to Practice Competencies.

📑OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Active registration as a Licensed or Registered Practical Nurse in the province or territory of employment with no current license suspensions or condition in any other jurisdiction.
💼EXPERIENCE:
EX01: A minimum of two (2) years recent* experience as a Licensed or Registered Practical Nurse providing nursing care to adults in an acute care, primary care, or community health setting.
EX02: Recent* experience conducting health assessments, developing nursing care plans, and providing necessary nursing and follow-on interventions.
* Recent experience is defined as experience obtained within the past five (5) years.

AEX01: Five (5) years experience working in a Primary Care, Public or Community Health, or Occupational Health environment within the last ten (10) years.
AEX02: Experience delivering patient care in a multidisciplinary team, including in partnership with external organizations.
AEX03: Experience applying principles of disease management and infection prevention and control among adults.
AEX04: Experience working with immunization or vaccine programs.
AEX05: Experience in health promotion and health teaching.
