DutiesCanmetENERGY-Ottawa is an energy research lab within the federal Department of Natural Resources. The Subsurface Energy Technology Group conducts research into energy technologies including geothermal energy.
The duties of the position are to conduct technical and economic, and life-cycle analyses on enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) for the provision of electricity and heat for locations in northern Canada.
The work will include:
• Developing methods and models to evaluate EGS in the north and in various geological settings.
• Developing methods and models to evaluate the cost of EGS.
• Evaluating the life-cycle performance of EGS in the north.
• Writing reports and papers for publication, and developing and presenting presentations at meetings and conferences.
• Conducting lab work such as measuring rock properties (thermal, hydraulic, etc.).
