Duties
• Cleaning outdoor toilets at multiple locations.
• Cleaning / tidying picnic areas.
• Daily cleaning of indoor public washrooms.
• Lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting.
• Removing garbage and recycling.
• Seasonal deep cleaning of facilities and vehicles.
• Addressing and resolving visitor concerns and complaints.

Port au Choix National Historic Site contains evidence of four ancient Indigenous cultures from over 5000 years ago who were attracted to the coast due to the abundant sea life. The site receives about 15,000 visitors per season.
Intent of the process
The results of this process will be used to fill one (1) term (temporary) GSBUS02 position for 19 weeks, with the possibility of extension.
This process will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

You will receive Isolated Post Allowances, which will be added to your salary, and Vacation Travel Assistance, which is provided 1-2 times a year. See more information below:
Isolated Post Allowances (as of October 1, 2025)
*Maximum Annual Isolated Posts Amounts based on full-time year-round employment.
• Employee = $4,952
• Employee with Dependents = $8,254
Vacation Travel Assistance (as of October 1, 2025)
• Employee =$893
• Employee with Dependents = $893 per person

Conditions of employment

• Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance.
• Possession of a valid class 5 or 5II Driver’s License.

Operational Requirements

• Willing to work indoors and outdoors, in variable weather conditions, and at various work locations.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
• Willing to perform custodial tasks such as cleaning washrooms showers, offices, garbage/recycling collection, facility/site maintenance, and picking litter
• Willing to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays
• Willing to use physical effort to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs
• Willing to conduct repetitive tasks
• Willing to be exposed to noxious odours from cleaning chemicals, vehicle fumes, and dust
• Willing to learn First Aid for the workplace
