About the position

Duties
Positions are available in Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Architectural disciplines. Depending on the role, incumbents will provide technical input for infrastructure planning, including the development of specifications and procedures, and will act as the technical authority for project contracts and documentation. They will conduct cost analyses, manage budgets, and approve project expenditures to ensure sound financial management. Responsibilities also include developing and reviewing designs, specifications, estimates, and CAD drawings, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery. Incumbents will inspect facilities, systems, and equipment, recommend corrective actions as needed, and provide expert advice on construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and project execution. In addition, they will develop maintenance procedures and offer ongoing technical guidance to project teams and clients.

The initial intent of this process is to fill five (5) indeterminate, English essential position located in Toronto, ON.

ED1. The minimum standard is:
•A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note).
Note:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
a. Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
b. Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the EG classification.
The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.
Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the EG classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

EX1. Experience preparing scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure projects or engineering projects.
EX2. Experience providing engineering support services in the planning, design, construction, operation or maintenance of infrastructure or engineering projects.
EX3. Experience interpreting and applying relevant legislation, regulations or policies.
EX4. Experience in contract administration including monitoring contractor performance, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
EX5. Experience researching, analyzing, and compiling information to prepare technical reports.
