About the position

Duties
This position provides clerical and administrative support services and related information/guidance, to the Site Manager at Fort St. James National Historic Site.
Work environment
Fort St. James National Historic Site, with the largest collection of original fur trade buildings in Canada, its remarkable view out over beautiful Stuart Lake, and authentic, entertaining execution of a day in the summer of 1896, is one of Canada’s premiere fur trading posts. Attracting both local and international guests in the summer season, it contributes to a diversified economy and provides community leadership in celebrating and protecting the cultural heritage of Fort St. James. The site offers one of the best opportunities to connect northern British Columbia residents to their nationally significant heritage and to provide them with a Parks Canada experience.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.

EDUCATION :
Completion of secondary school or Public Service Commission approved alternative.

EXPERIENCE:
• Recent* experience providing administrative support services and related information such as: purchasing, material management, records/information management, processing financial and human resources records, data entry, preparing correspondence, arranging travel and meetings, recording minutes, and/or managing multiple e-mail and calendar accounts.
• Using various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Planning, organising, and prioritising work within an office environment with changing demands.
• Preparing, editing, and formatting written correspondence such as reports, letters, and emails.
*Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last 5 years.

• Working with organizations in protected area management and/or Indigenous government.
• Experience working with confidential human resources related data such as payroll, staffing and employee data.
• Experience tracking or monitoring finances for a business unit, such as managing a budget.
