As one of Canada’s seven Regional Development Agencies, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) works with Northerners and Indigenous peoples, communities, businesses, organizations, other federal departments and other orders of government to help build diversified and dynamic economies that foster long-term sustainability and economic prosperity across the territories – Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
CanNor is headquartered in Iqaluit, Nunavut with regional offices in Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. There is also a liaison office in Ottawa, Ontario.

As a Senior Economic Development Officer working within CanNor’s Yukon, Yellowknife and/or Nunavut’s Operations' team, you will provide support to important programs and projects, engaging key partners and stakeholders in the region. The role will provide you the opportunity to make a significant difference in the economic and social wellbeing of Indigenous peoples and northern residents; by working directly with communities and businesses, and witnessing first-hand the results of government investments.
Intent of the process
For Whitehorse, Yukon:
The immediate intent of this process is to fill one (1) or more full-time Senior Economic Development Officer positions on a permanent basis at the CO-02 level in Whitehorse, Yukon (with the language profile of either English essential and/or bilingual imperative BBB/BBB). Successful applicants will be required to work onsite in Whitehorse, Yukon.
For Yellowknife, NWT:
The immediate intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time Senior Economic Development Officer position on a permanent full-time basis at the CO-02 level in Yellowknife, NWT (bilingual imperative BBB/BBB). Successful applicants will be required to work onsite in Yellowknife, NWT.
An anticipatory pool of qualified candidates may also be established for potential future vacancies to fill similar positions, with various tenures and various language profiles - ( English essential, bilingual imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC) in any of CanNor’s northern offices.

The salary range for this positions is: $89,966 to $128,102 per annum.
In addition, the selected candidate(s) will also be entitled to:
Northern allowance & Vacation Travel assistance for Whitehorse
• A Northern allowance ranging from approximately $9,336 to $12,989 per year;
• 1 Vacation travel assistance per year approximately $680.40 per dependent (i.e. the employee and eligible dependents, including spouse/common-law partner), based on current rates for Whitehorse.
Northern allowances & Vacation Travel assistance for Yellowknife
• A Northern allowance ranging from approximately $18,527- $26,363 per year;
• 1 Vacation travel assistance per year approximately $1,300.95 per dependent (i.e. the employee and eligible dependents, including spouse/common-law partner), based on current rates for Yellowknife.
