Duties
Delivers interpretive presentations, programs and activities to provide visitors of the Forillon national park with opportunities to discover, appreciate, learn about and enjoy the place and its natural and/or cultural resources and understand their significance to Canada.

Located on the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula, Forillon Park is a mountainous area that borders on the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Bay of Gaspé. Its boreal forest is home to an diverse wildlife that can be easily observed. The park’s steep cliffs welcome thousands of sea birds and its shores harbour colonies of seals. Its stunning vistas and rock formations are a testament to our planet’s captivating history. The Forillon Peninsula has been inhabited for thousands of years and Forillon Park bears witness to the lives of the men and women who lived there, including Micmacs, fishermen, cod merchants, whale hunters and lighthouse keepers.

Operational Requirements
The position requires the incumbent to:
⮩ The requirement to wear Parks Canada uniform in accordance with Parks Canada dress code policy and/or to wear period costume as required by the Agency.
⮩ Willingness to work shifts, weekends and/or national or provincial holidays.
⮩ The requirement to work and/or travel on varied terrain, in variable weather conditions, in isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
⮩ The requirement to stand/walk-hike for long periods (3 hours) on varied terrain, in variable weather conditions, in isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
⮩ Handling and maintaining reproductions of historical artefacts.
⮩ Handling wildlife or domestic animals or plants.
⮩ The need to perform housekeeping tasks in designated work areas.
⮩ The need to perform certain physical tasks as required by the job, such as lifting a 10 kg box of leaflets.

⮩ Post-secondary diploma (minimum two-year programme) in a discipline related to the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

💼 EXPERIENCE:

⮩ Experience in facilitating and delivering content to groups in a heritage interpretation context, with a focus on education, engagement, entertainment and/or public awareness.
⮩ Experience in welcoming the public and responding to enquiries, providing information and advice tailored to visitors' needs.

🔎 KNOWLEDGE :
⮩ Knowledge of presentation and interpretation techniques, including storytelling and demonstration techniques, theatre programmes, and guided hikes.
⮩ General knowledge of Canada's natural and/or cultural heritage as it relates to Forillon National Park.

📝 ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
───────────────────
⮩ Experience in performing traditional Quebec songs and music with a musical instrument (for example: violin, guitar, accordion, harmonica, etc.).
⮩ Practical experience in traditional skills (e.g. gardening, carpentry, cabinetmaking, fishing, knitting, weaving, sewing, etc.), enabling these skills to be shared with the public.
