Work environment
Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) works with Northerners and Indigenous peoples, communities, businesses, organizations, other federal departments and other orders of government to help build diversified and dynamic economies that foster long-term sustainability and economic prosperity across the territories – Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Yukon.
CanNor is headquartered in Iqaluit, Nunavut with regional offices in Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. There is also a liaison office in Ottawa, Ontario.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill one term position (2.5 years) in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories with a government language profile of bilingual imperative or English or French essential.
An anticipatory pool of qualified candidates may also be established to staff potential future vacancies in the Yellowknife office and may be used to fill similar positions, with varying tenures, in any of CanNor’s northern offices.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - Various - Reliability or Secret Security clearance depending on the position being staffed.

The incumbent and dependents* must obtain Health Canada medical clearance in accordance with the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive.
*Includes incumbent’s spouse or common-law partner and child(ren).

Operational Requirements

Willingness and able to work overtime on short notice.
Willing and able to, on occasion, travel for work and/or training.

Education:
A secondary school (or ‘high school’) diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position being staffed.

Experience:
E1 Experience providing administrative support to a manager or executive such as: managing an agenda or calendar, monitoring email, coordinating correspondence and organizing meetings and travels.
E2 Experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Asset experience:
AE1 Experience assisting senior management in the provision of a variety of administrative services related to human resources or finance.
AE2 : Experience working in the North preferably in Nunavut, the Yukon, Northwest Territories, or Inuit Nunangat.
AE3: Experience as an administrative assistant working in an executive office
