About the position

Duties
Maintain and repair facilities and structures (e.g. trails, campsites, shrubs, grass and roads) manually and using tools and equipment. Perform general maintenance and repair tasks.
Inspect and report on condition of facilities and structures. Prepare basic supplies and tools to perform tasks.
Perform tests/verifications to systems and equipment using prescribed procedures.
Clean equipment and worksites for transport and storage. Inspect and report requirement for repair.
Perform basic maintenance and repair of tools and equipment.
Respond to inquiries and direct clients/visitors to sources of information and services.
Work environment
Join our team at Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park! We are looking for dedicated individuals to help maintain our beautiful parks. You'll be involved in general maintenance, repairs, and cleaning tasks to keep our facilities in top shape for over 500,000 annual visitors.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Possess and maintain a valid class G2 or G drivers license.

Operational Requirements

Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy.
Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, including standby and call-outs when required.
Work and travel in a range of environments, including varied terrain, weather conditions, and occasionally remote or isolated locations, using different modes of transportation.
Obtain and maintain required certifications, such as WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Canadian Firearms Safety, and certifications for operating ground vehicles (e.g., all terrain vehicles) and motorized and non motorized marine vessels
Undergo and meet the requirements of a pre‑placement and periodic health evaluation as outlined in the Parks Canada Occupational Health Monitoring Program

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent experience.

KNOWLEDGE
K1 - Knowledge of Parks Canada places and its mandate
K2 - Knowledge of Saugeen Ojibway Nation Anishinabek
K3 - Knowledge of building, landscaping, and maintenance.
K4 - Knowledge of workplace safety practices
ABILITIES
AB1 - Ability to work independently and make decisions.
AB2 - Ability to communicate effectively with team members and visitors.
AB3 - Ability to perform heavy labor tasks (e.g., carrying 50 pounds for up to 300 meters).
PERSONAL SUITABILITIES
