About the position
DutiesCampground/Janitorial Student (SU-01)
Perform a variety of duties to ensure parks facilities and campgrounds are clean and maintained for our visitors, including tasks such as lawn mowing, grass trimming, painting, and more. Greet visitors and provide information and orientation related to facilities, services, programs, regulations, and safety precautions. Collect revenue using a point-of-sale system and complete daily sales deposits.
Student Visitor Service Attendants (SU-02) – Visitor Information Centre / Entrance Kiosk / Camping
Welcome visitors in person or over the phone and give them information and directions regarding facilities, services, programs, events and regulations. Record, process and collect fees, issue permits, make reimbursements, sell and assign campsites where applicable. Work with a cash register, compile and record statistical data, fill out forms, sales reports, and bank deposits, and use a computer system or point of sale and booking system, helps with the sale of firewood.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to hire students for summer 2026.
The results may also be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Western Newfoundland Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

• Possession of a valid class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent), or a graduated licence, if applicable to the position
Operational Requirements
• Candidates must be willing to wear the Parks Canada uniform and/or identifier clothing and personal safety equipment, in accordance with Park’s Canada uniform policy
• Candidates must be willing to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.
• Candidates must be willing to work outdoors and be exposed to various weather conditions while performing work requiring
moderate physical effort
• Candidates are responsible for their own transportation to/from the work location – transportation is not provided.
• Student housing is limited in Gros Morne National Park and may not be available for all candidates interested in that work location

Open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school in an accredited institution and/or those participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.
