About the position

Duties
Cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency buildings/facilities and grounds to enhance the visitor experience.
Intent of the process
This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic requirements in same or other parts of the country.

Must have valid WHMIS certificates.

Operational Requirements

Conduct repetitive tasks.
Stand, bend, stretch, climb stairs and work from ladders.
Lift supplies, tools and equipment, such as buckets.
Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements by frequently walking distances up to 0.5 kilometres.
Be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products.
Be exposed to potential hazards when performing cleaning and maintenance activities.
Wear Personal Protective Equipment as directed by the employer, including outer clothing protection.
Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others.

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Acceptable experience in providing cleaning services in a large commercial or institutional environment.
Knowledge of equipment (vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners).
Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System and how to apply WHMIS to related tasks.
Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external clients.
Ability to identify hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.
Makes things happen.
Exercises sound judgement.
Communicates effectively.
Takes responsibility.
Demonstrates integrity.

Experience in maintaining/restocking supplies.
Experience in performing minor operational maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, tightening door handles and hinges, unclogging toilets and maintaining vacuums).
