The Canadian Space Agency invites you to apply for an Operations Engineer position for ISS Robotics Program as well as ISS Canadian Science Utilisation Program. The positions to be staffed are in Mission Planning, Real-Time Support, Project Management, Training, Ground Segment Support, Systems, Software, Logistics Engineering and Scientific Experiment Payload Operations Support.

Intent of the process
The intent of this selection process is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of candidates will be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, specified period, acting, secondment or assignment).

Operational Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position to be staffed.
*Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master’s degree), the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

EXPERIENCES:
EXP1: Four (4) years of experience in evaluating, analyzing and solving engineering or operations problems and in making recommendations.
EXP2: Four (4) years of experience in applying engineering principles and procedures.
EXP3: One (1) year of experience in the development of mission operations plans, operational products and procedures or operational software products for complex systems*.
*Complex Systems are defined as systems that are composed of many independent system elements playing a key role in the whole system's behavior, such as in aerospace, space or military domain.
EXP4: One (1) year of experience in consulting, negotiating or collaborating with various stakeholders in an operational environment**.
**An operational environment refers to the set of physical, technical, human, and organizational conditions in which a system is used and controlled to accomplish its objectives.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS

CERTIFICATIONS:
Holding a valid certification for a flight control room, an operations and engineering center, increment management center, or training position.
EXPERIENCES:
EXP1: Experience in the real-time provision of on-console operations or engineering support during operation, simulation or testing of complex space or aerospace systems.
EXP2: Experience in Life Cycle Material Management (LCMM) of space, aerospace or military operational hardware.
EXP3: Experience in planning, leading and monitoring elements of work of an engineering project in an operational environment.
EXP4: Experience in the development, testing, validation or implementation of operational space, aerospace or military hardware or real time software.
EXP5: Experience working with the Mobile Servicing System (MSS) flight software or flight products, (Procedures, Flight Rules, reconfiguration files, mission databases, etc).
EXP6: Experience in the development, integration, certification, and operation of scientific payloads or research instruments.
EXP7: Experience in at least two of the following: design, development, integration, testing, maintenance and upgrade of information technology (IT) hardware and software systems.
EXP8: Approximately two (2) years of experience within the last five (5) years in coding and designing software applications.
EXP9: Approximately two (2) years of experience with planning and executing Contract Management tasks, including the development of Contract work plans and contractual documentation (e.g. statement of work, work packages), planning and coordinating their associated reviews, reviewing the Contractor deliverables and claims in coordination with technical authorities and PSPC, as well as identifying and managing Contract and Project risks.
EXP10: Approximately two (2) years of experience in managing space projects, or in managing projects involving partnership with governmental organizations, or in negotiating with various stakeholders from Industry.
EXP11: Approximately two (2) years of experience within the last ten (10) years with real-time simulation hardware or software in one or more of the following areas: design, development, integration, testing, operation, maintenance and upgrades.
EXP12: Experience developing and delivering training materials for operating complex systems*.
*Complex Systems are defined as systems that are composed of many independent system elements playing a key role in the whole system's behavior, such as in aerospace, space or military domain.
EXP13: Experience in multibody dynamics modeling, kinematics, and control systems for multi-joint robotic manipulators.
EXP14: Experience in interpreting and applying system-level requirements for robotic operations, including performance constraints, safety margins, and interface compatibility
KNOWLEDGE:
CON1: Knowledge of principles and procedures of the complete life cycle of aerospace or military equipment and software.
CON2: Knowledge of space-based or planetary Payload operations.
CON3 : Knowledge of standard project management principles and practices, emphasizing on the monitoring and control of scope, cost, schedule, and risks for projects using work breakdown structures approach and the use of project management software tools.
ABILITIES:
CAP1: Ability to function effectively in an environment where tight deadlines and a high level of pressure are the norm.
CAP2: Ability to work within the Linux environment.
CAP3: Ability to develop computer programs in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, JAVA, SQL or PHP.
