About the position

Duties
• Conduct repetitive tasks
• Stand, bend, stretch and work from ladders
• Lift supplies, tools and equipment such as buckets
• Dust and wash walls and windows
• Pick up litter and trash
• Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements
• Be exposed to noxious odors from cleaning products
• Regularly clean and provide minor maintenance to washroom buildings and other facilities
• Occasionally demonstrate tasks to others

Intent of the process
ANTICIPATORY: Term employment from May to October 2026.
A qualifying pool will be established and may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures (temporary, indeterminate, full-time, part-time) and work locations.

• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
• Willingness to use safe work practices (training and terms of use provided)
• Willingness to work irregular hours, shift work, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required
• Possession of a valid class 5 Driver’s License

Operational Requirements

• Medium physical effort to lift 50 lbs maximum with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs
• Travel to various outdoor sites with some exposure to weather elements
• Work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation
• Must provide own transportation to and from the workplace

Education:
• Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards.

• EX1: Experience in providing cleaning services (in facilities such as commercial or institutional environments, other facilities may be considered)

Knowledge:
• K1: Knowledge of how to apply health and safety procedures at the work site
Abilities:
• A1: Ability to identify hazards and potential hazards and taking action to ensure a safe environment
• A2: Ability to deal with situations and issues proactively, to identify problems and the solutions to them
• A3: Ability to provide quality services
Personal Suitability:
• PS1: Exercises sound judgment
• PS2: Client service oriented
