About the position
Duties
Assisting in the maintenance of the historic collections including cleaning, dusting, and vacuuming
artifacts, reproductions and the historic buildings
Assisting with condition reporting and identifying items in need of conservation
Preventive conservation including Integrated Pest Management, and Environmental Monitoring
Conducting inventory of the collections in the historic buildings using our CRMIS Database, resolving
any discrepancies, and tracking down unlocated items
Labelling artifacts and creating mounts using collections standards
Assisting with exhibit work/displays as and when needed
Assisting costuming student with inventory, cleaning, etc. as and when needed
Assisting Parks staff with seasonal events set up/take down as and when needed
Other tasks as assigned
Work environment
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
Intent of the process
We’re seeking student talent to help manage our artifact collection. An ideal candidate has a passion for Canadian history and experience in working with museum collections and/or studying in a related field. They have previous database experience, attention to detail, are good at problem solving and enjoy working with others. This position is for the Summer of 2026 running from May 11th to September 4th. Work hours are 30hrs a week, 4 days a week Tuesday to Friday.

- Possess and maintain a Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License

- Can lift/carry up to 40lbs including up and down stairs
