🏢 In line with Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) direction, the Department of National Defence has adopted a common hybrid work model where employees work at their designated worksite at least 3 days each week, or 60% of their regular schedule. Some positions may require full-time on-site presence.
Intent of the process
There is an immediate need to fill two (2) EL-06 positions and one (1) EL-07 position on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in the National Capital Region.
A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.

Important Information: For some positions, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance. In line with the Directive on Security Screening, candidates must hold Canadian citizenship to obtain this level of clearance.
▶ Willingness and ability to travel nationally and internationally to contractor facilities, military installations, deployed and garrison field units, military workshops, and repair depots, sometimes on or in military vehicles, ships and aircraft.
▶ Willingness and ability to work in an operational environment, including the need to work overtime and weekends, as required.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
▶ Willingness and ability to participate in military exercises under adverse climatic conditions for the purposes of conducting or coordinating technical evaluations.

The minimum standard is:
• A secondary school diploma; and
• Completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or the employer-approved alternative.
The employer-approved alternative is as follows:
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

1. Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.

EXPERIENCE
EL-06 and EL-07:
▶ EX1: Experience in applying engineering principles and technical skills to support the testing of modern, complex, and highly integrated military or commercial equipment.
▶ EX2: Experience with test documentation, whether writing test procedures, analyzing test data, or writing test reports in support of testing and evaluation.

EL-07 only:
▶ EX3: Experience managing specialized materiel throughout its lifecycle, including procurement, sustainment, and disposal, with responsibility for a large inventory of technical assets.
▶ EX4: Experience applying engineering principles to support installation, configuration, and maintenance of systems used in testing complex military or commercial equipment.
▶ EX5: Experience maintaining equipment readiness to support multi-user testing operations, coordinating access, and ensuring availability across teams and projects.

KNOWLEDGE
EL-06 and EL-07:
▶ K1: Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles to support measurement techniques to generate fact-based data and evaluate compliance with technical specifications.
▶ K2: Knowledge on how to use electronic test equipment in a laboratory or field environment, including hands-on setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and data collection.
EL-07 only:
▶ K3: Advanced knowledge of safety procedures applicable to electronics lab and fields environments.
▶ K4: Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic principles to support accurate measurements, reliable data generation, and compliance with quality management and technical specifications in lab and field environments.
▶ K5: Advanced knowledge of electronic systems and test equipment, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and data collection for electromagnetic evaluations.
▶ K6: Advanced understanding of life cycle principles for acquisition, sustainment, inventory control, and disposal of equipment supporting electromagnetic testing operations.
