About the position
Duties
This position is within the Grain Research Laboratory of the CGC. The program is currently researching and monitoring mycotoxins, pesticide residues, heavy metals, and trace elements associated with Canadian grain and products made from Canadian grain. The program develops new tools and employs new technologies for the monitoring, detection, identification and characterization of these analytes.

Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill 1 two-year term position.
Research Scientists’ (SE-RES) salary levels are incumbent-base. Therefore, the level of the position will be determined by the qualifications/accomplishments of the successful candidate. For postdoctoral researchers at the beginning of their careers, SE-RES starting salaries usually range between $68,264 - $145,166.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used for similar indeterminate, specified period employment, acting appointments, secondments or deployments.
Note: The successful candidate must be available and willing to work full-time onsite presence.

Conditions of employment:

Education:
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of natural sciences with a specialization related to the duties of the position, such as any of the following:
• Analytical chemistry.
• Food chemistry.
• Food science.

Experience:
• Experience in planning and conducting scientific research related to the fate of contaminants in grain and grain-based foods.
• Experience in performing quantitative analysis of contaminants in grain or grain-based foods using liquid chromatography with mass spectrometric techniques.
• Experience in working with senior researchers, laboratory staff, as well as graduate and undergraduate students.

• Ability to clearly communicate scientific information (including research plans, data, interpretation of results, implications and limitations of results) to various audiences using various formats.
