About the position

Duties
As a Junior Engineer with Department of National Defence (DND) in CF Real Property Operations Group, you will play a key role by providing project management and engineering expertise in delivering reliable and efficient infrastructure enabling the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and DND employees in the execution of our national defence mission.

Conditions of employment

▶ Possess a valid, full, unrestricted provincial or territorial Class 5 driver’s licence.
▶ Willing and able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations.
▶ Willing and able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding and work from heights
▶ Willing and able to obtain and maintain a licence and to be a member in good standing of the respective provincial association of Professional Engineers.

▶ OR1: Willing and able to work overtime and be on call during the week and/or weekends, sometimes on short notice.

EDUCATION
▶ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
AND
▶ Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position (some positions may require eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada without regard for the field of specialization).
Note:
1. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

▶ EX 1: Experience analyzing issues and making recommendations related to infrastructure maintenance or construction projects.
▶ EX 2: Experience interpreting construction codes, regulations, standards, or technical studies to formulate effective solutions to problems.

▶ AEX1: Experience in project management through all stages of project delivery (Identification, Definition, Implementation and Close Out).
▶ AEX2: Experience in managing multiple projects concurrently.
▶ AEX3: Experience in the application of project, risk management and business case analysis.
▶ AEX4. Experience leading or managing project teams in a multidisciplinary design environment related to building infrastructure or utilities management.
▶ AEX5. Experience in Real Property project management. * Real Property (i.e. Infrastructure, buildings, construction, renovations, HVAC, roads, storm/sewer etc.)
▶ AEX6. Experience conducting technical studies and evaluations of infrastructure (buildings, roads and
utilities) or participating in facility condition studies/assessments.
▶ AEX7. Experience as an Electrical Engineer inspecting building electrical systems, evaluating system performance or operations (power quality and harmonic analysis), conducting fault and arc flash analysis and reviewing or evaluating protection settings for Low and Medium Voltage distribution systems.
▶ AEX8. Experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer inspecting building structural systems (building envelope and structural supports) and evaluating civil or municipal system performance or operations (sanitary systems or water distribution systems or road or pavement conditions).
▶ AEX9. Experience as a Mechanical Engineer inspecting building mechanical systems (district energy,
heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing and building mechanical equipment) and evaluating facility related mechanical system performance/operations.
▶ AEX10. Experience using National Master Specifications (NMS) to tender infrastructure maintenance or construction projects for contract.
▶ AEX11. Experience in preparing Computer Assisted Drawing (CAD) designs for infrastructure maintenance or construction projects.
▶ AEX12. Experience working in the Federal Public Service or in Defence Construction Canada
