Regional Railway Inspector, Operations

Duties
📋 Working in the Rail Safety Directorate at Transport Canada, Regional Railway Inspectors are responsible for monitoring railways to promote compliance with acts and regulations as well as working with railways in identifying and reducing risks.What you will be doing:
☑ Conducting inspections and audits of railway facilities and operations within the region, and recommending compliance and/or enforcement actions as required;
☑ Providing technical advice and guidance to stakeholders in the railway industry;
☑ Applying expertise in investigations of accidents, incidents, injuries and fatalities, complaints and other situations as it relate to acts and regulations; and
☑ Participating in the planning and implementation of the regional inspection and monitoring program.

Work environment
💻 The reporting locations for this position are 101 - 22nd Street E, Room 305 in Saskatoon; 800 - 1601 Airport Road NE in Calgary, 1100 - 9700 Jasper Avenue in Edmonton, and 344 Edmonton St in Winnipeg. The successful candidate will follow Transport Canada's hybrid work guidance for inspectors working in the field to ensure compliance with the work arrangement agreement and onsite presence requirement minimums for this position are consistent with those defined in the Treasury Board's Direction on prescribed presence in the workplace.Travel is required, both locally and regionally, and occasionally nationally, for inspection and training activities. Duties will be performed in an office environment as well as various indoor and outdoor environments such as railway sites or yards and under varying weather conditions.

EX1: Significant* operational experience working as locomotive engineer OR yardmaster OR training instructor OR rail traffic controller OR operation experience working as a conductor OR transportation/operations supervisor or some combination of experience of all at a railway in Canada.*Significant experience is defined as having performed a broad range of various and complex activities normally acquired over a period of at least five (5) years.
