About the position

Duties
Not limited to:
• Operate MSE(Mobile Support Equipment) including tractor trailer, highway cruiser, staff car and 5 ton.
• Troubleshoot and perform cyclical maintenance on equipment in accordance with provided direction and technical manuals.
• Maintain MSE cleanliness and readiness.
• Report all defects in accordance with policy.
• Perform all runs. Mail, LPO(Local Purchase Orders), MDR(Medical Dental Run), CMTT(Central Materiel Traffic Terminal), SMD(Scheduled Materiel Distribution) Trenton, SMD Montreal.
• Support unit requests. (Bus runs, tractor runs, freight runs, vehicle delivery).
• Work both independently and within small team environments.
• Understand and follow all policies related to MSE Operation.
• Work environments include both indoor and outdoor during all weather elements.
• Ensure all trip tickets and trip related paperwork is filled out accurately and handed in in a timely manner.
An approximate breakdown of time is as follows:
- 70% on the road operating MSE;
- 20% in a workshop completing maintenance, cleaning ; and
- 10% on a computer for admin and paperwork.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a DND Driver's Licence (DND 404).
- An acceptable* driver's abstract provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the request.
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks including safely lift and carry 25 kg, bend, climb stairs and climb into heavy equipment.
- Must be willing and able to work a shift schedule.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as authorized.
- Must be willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and
Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Operational Requirements may vary or be exchanged with Conditions of Employment, depending on the position to be filled. These may include:
• Willing and able to wear CSA approved safety footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as directed.
• Willing and able to work in inclement weather conditions.
• Willing and able to work standby, overtime and occasionally on weekends and holidays.

- Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Class A in Ontario) driver’s license with air brake endorsement (Class Z in Ontario).
- Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 2 driver’s license (Class C in Ontario) valid in the province of work.

- Experience in long haul driving.
- Experience in performing operator inspection and maintenance on one or more of the following commercial vehicles: 49 Passenger Buses (minimum size), 5 Ton Cargo trucks, Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles.
- Experience in the transportation of dangerous goods.
- Experience operating powered Materiel Handling Equipment.
- Experience in handling and tying down loads on vehicles or trailers.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as, Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience working with DND transportation policies.
- Experience using load chart regulations.
