Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff 6 indeterminate positions.
2 indeterminate positions at NDHQ Ottawa, ON
2 indeterminate positions in Valcartier. QC
1 indeterminate position in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC
1 indeterminate position in Trenton, ON
This pool will be used to fill similar positions within the Department of National Defense with various language proficiencies in various regions.

Possession and ongoing maintenance of a valid Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) Personnel Certification; or, if not currently certified, the ability to obtain certification within approximately 12 months and maintain it throughout employment.
Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.

An acceptable combination of education, training or experience demonstrating the eligibility to write the exam to obtain the certification of MRDT (Medical Device Reprocessing Technician).

EX1: Experience* in a healthcare facility or in a regulated environment related to the reprocessing of medical devices.
*Experience is defined as approximately 1 year of full-time work within the last two years.
EX2: Experience with reprocessing medical or dental instruments in accordance with (Canadian Standards Association) CSA Z314 standards – Canadian Medical Device Reprocessing standards.

EX3: Experience using tracking and labelling systems to ensure traceability of sterilized instruments.

EX4: Experience operating and performing maintenance on sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, automated washers and ultrasonic cleaners.

EDUCATION
Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) training program from a recognized Canadian college or institution that includes both theoretical instruction and a supervised practicum or clinical component

EXPERIENCE
AE1: Experience specifically in dental instrument reprocessing.
AE2: Experience supporting coworkers in medical device reprocessing (MDR) activities, such as sharing knowledge, demonstrating proper procedures, or assisting in reinforcing established protocols.
AE3: Experience in a military or institutional health services setting.
