• Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain relevant trade membership as a fully licensed Technician, as required by the position.
• Must be willing and able to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Must be willing and able to climb, stand, walk, lift, bend, pull and/or push, grasp, reach, stoop, sit and crouch for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to work at heights and confined spaces.
• Must be willing and able to wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Must complete periodic departmental and trade training and/or upgrading as required.
Candidates must meet and maintain conditions of employment throughout their employment in this position.

Operational Requirements

AOC4. Possession of a valid unrestricted provincial/territorial driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement.
AOC5. Possession of a valid provincial/territorial Vehicle Inspector Certificate Class 3 (or equivalent) with Air Brake endorsement.
AOC6. Possession of a valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician license (or equivalent).
AOC7. Possession of a valid 310S Automotive Service Technician license (or equivalent).
AOC8. Possession of a valid Pleasure Craft Operator’s certificate.
AOC9. Possession of a valid Marine Medical Certificate.
AOC10. Valid First Aid certification.
AOC11. Valid Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certification.
AOC12. Valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
ASSET EXPERIENCE
AE1. Experience in the inspection and repair of a variety of Heavy Duty Equipment.
AE2. Experience in the inspection and repair of gas and diesel powered automobiles.
AE3. Experience in the inspection and repair of vehicle components (drive train, suspension systems, etc).
AE4. Experience in the repair and maintenance of military pattern vehicles.
AE5. Experience in the inspection and repair of over snow vehicles or All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs).
AE6. Experience in the inspection and repair of lawn maintenance equipment, chainsaws, trailers, or miscellaneous off-road vehicles.
AE7. Experience in the inspection and repair of automotive air conditioning systems.
AE8. Experience in the inspection and repair of firefighting equipment.
AE9. Experience in the inspection and repair of runway equipment.
AE10. Experience in the inspection and repair of marine diesel, gas engines, outboard engines and diverse marine equipment.
AE11. Experience in the inspection and repair of electric vehicles (EV) or hybrid vehicles.
AE12. Experience in diagnosing vehicle faults.
AE13. Experience using diagnostic tooling.
AE14. Experience in first, second and third level maintenance that includes but not limited to: inspection, diagnosis, repair, replacement, rebuilt, disassembly, calibration, adjustment, modification and re-assembly any parts, components and sub-component of the equipment or vehicle.
AE15. Experience using an SAP based program (such as Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS)) or Fleet Management Software.
AE16. Experience mentoring technicians during on-the-job training.
AE17. Experience working or volunteering in a mixed civilian and military environment.
AE18. Experience in supervising.
AE19. Experience in the use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
