Salary
$17.75 to $38.38 per hour - Varies as per the level of education and experience.

- Be recognized as having full-time student status at an accredited Canadian post-secondary academic institution (this includes students with a disability deemed to have full-time status). Individuals pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting applications are encouraged to apply, as proof of enrollment will only be required prior to the start date.
- Be enrolled in an academic program that requires research as part of the curriculum.
- Be at least the minimum age to work in the province or territory where the job is located.

About the position

Duties
As directed by the supervisor, the research technician and applicable directives, the student will provide general and technical support, including the following.
• Assist in seeding, maintaining and harvesting plots
• Contribute to data collection and analysis
• Help collect plant or soil samples
• Provide support in the laboratory or in the field as part of research programs
• Conduct laboratory or field research activities
• Help maintain the research equipment
Work environment
The Normandin Research Farm concentrates its research in two areas: agri-environment and field crops such as forage, cereals, oilseeds and protein crops.
More specifically, the Farm’s staff works on forage and grain crop management for Eastern Canada. It also carries out work on the management and conservation of soil-water-air resources. In addition, the Normandin Research Farm ensures the development of forage and cereal production methods adapted to the context of northern agriculture.

Education:
Candidate must be enrolled now, or will be enrolled by the date of the appointment, in a college, bachelor’s, master's or doctorate program at a recognized postsecondary institution with a specialization in:
• Agronomy
• Agricultural Science
• Plant Science
• Biology
• Environmental Science
• Environmental Technology
• Natural Resources
• Soil Science
• Related science program or other related areas
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Experience:
Experience in conducting experiments in the laboratory or in the field.
Experience in collecting or analyzing samples.
Note: In the context of student recruitment in the federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience or volunteer activities.
