About the position

Work environment
This position involves working along side Members and one additional support staff within the Kitscoty detachment. The working environment is very team based often with competing demands and dynamic situations. At times there may be exposure to images and reports that may be disturbing in nature. Some of the tasks of this role include: Interaction with the public at the front counter or by telephone, taking complaints and assigning files to Members, working with sensitive diary dates that are expected to be met, and working with outside agency partners on an ongoing basis to maintain effective communication
Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff one indeterminate full-time position in Kitscoty, AB. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance.
NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc. As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Operational Requirements

Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material
Willingness and ability to work overtime, if required

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel

Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).
Experience liaising with court representatives or officials, or preparing court disclosure packages.
Training and/or experience in providing financial support services such as the collection and recording of monies received, handling petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, preparing invoices
