About the position
Duties
Assisting Parks Canada trades teams with general labour and support tasks related to facilities, buildings, and infrastructure. Students may be assigned to support:
Carpentry: assisting with construction, repairs, wood finishing, deck and stair repairs, minor structural work, and shop support.
Painting: supporting surface preparation, paint application, staining, sanding, and cleanup using proper safety procedures.
Electrical: assisting electricians with labour support, fixture replacement, conduit work, lighting maintenance, tool/material handling, and worksite safety.
Water & Wastewater Operations: assisting licensed operators with testing, sampling, mechanical checks, pump station rounds, lift station cleaning, lagoon inspections, and record keeping.
Tasks may also include basic tool use, cleanup, inventory of materials, grounds support, signage installation, and other general maintenance tasks as directed.

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.
Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to hire students for the summer 2026. The exact number of positions available is to be determined.
These positions provide an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing careers in the skilled trades, technical work, water/wastewater operations, and hands-on maintenance roles.

• Must be willing to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.
• Must be willing to wear a Parks Canada uniform and prescribed protective equipment
• May be required to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.
• May be required to possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
• Will be required to have your own transportation to and from the workplace.
• May be required to find your own housing in the area. Staff housing is limited and not guaranteed.

EDUCATION:
Registered as a full-time student in a recognized institution (high school, CEGEP, College, University, etc.) and returning to full-time studies for the next academic term (Fall 2026).

Experience
• Students currently enrolled in trades programs (carpentry, electrical, building systems, environmental/water technology, construction trades) or high school students interested in skilled trades careers are strongly encouraged to apply.
• General semi-skilled labour experience
