Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to staff a position on a indeterminate basis in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and create a pool of qualified candidates. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

What is a top-down selection? It is where only the top scoring candidates will be invited to the next stage of the assessment. Please note that different pass marks and cut-off scores can be used at various stages of the assessment process. Candidates who attain the pass mark might not be further considered in the process if they do not achieve the cut-off score.
Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: written exam, interview, and reference checks.
Candidates will be asked to provide proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
Candidates invited to the assessment stage will be required to provide ORIGINAL proof of their education credentials, i.e., their degree or official transcript. Failure to do so may result in you not being considered further in the selection process.

Conditions of employment

- RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Operational Requirements

- Willing and able to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
- Willing and able to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation (including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft and up to and including remote locations).
- Willingness and ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 45 pounds.

EDUCATION
- Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*

EXPERIENCE
– Experience providing administrative support services*
*Administrative support services can include:
Data entry; Preparing correspondence; Filing; Processing mail; Purchase and procure goods and services; Prepare, coordinate and monitor professional services contracts; or Coordinate the maintenance and repair of accommodations, properties and assets.
- Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public
- Experience in providing financial support services**
**Financial support services can include:
Prepare a draft budget; monitor, track and reconcile transactions; maintain contingency funds and acquisitions; maintain accounts receivable and payable; collect financial data to assist with budget planning; provide advice and recommendations on financial policies, guidelines and procedures

- Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment
- Experience providing administrative services related to court activities such as: researching files and records; compiling court briefs; transcribing statements; arranging court dates; communicating with legal professionals; attending court and/or swearing to information
