DutiesKey Job Duties:
• This position provides technical support and interacts directly with clients and internal users in a professional, service-oriented manner.
• Manage and resolve help desk tickets, ensuring timely response and resolution.
• Work involves both desk-based administrative tasks and hands-on technical support.
• Physical activity is required (e.g., bending, lifting, climbing ladders, or working under desk (confined spaces) to install and maintain equipment.
• Planning, organizing and evergreening of IT equipment
• Collaborate with other IT staff to ensure system reliability, security and efficiency.

The RCMP in Nova Scotia (RCMPNS) is the provincial police service, serving communities from one end of the province to the other. This includes serving many of the province’s Indigenous communities and largest African Nova Scotian communities. The RCMP hires civilian employees in a wide variety of disciplines to provide critical services to our communities and support our local, provincial and national policing priorities.
Given the nature of the work performed in this position, telework is not supported for this position. The office that employees working in this unit report to is located at RCMP Headquarters in Dartmouth, NS.
Intent of the process
📌 The intent of this process is to staff one (1) anticipated, temporary position in Dartmouth, NS. Due to the nature of the position, the incumbent will be required to be present on-site, which means remote work will not be allowed. Applicants are encouraged to apply ONLY if they are able to relocate or commute to the advertised location of work.
A pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); maybe established through this process to staff identical or similar IT-02 positions on a temporary or permanent full‐time basis. Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member.

Operational Requirements
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management.

EXPERIENCE:
E1. Recent* and significant** experience supporting a Microsoft Windows desktop computer environment.
E2. Recent* and significant** experience with maintenance, installation and repair of computers or accessories.
E3. Recent* and significant** experience working with Microsoft Active Directory.
E4. Recent* and significant** experience supporting computer applications.
E5. Recent* and significant** experience supporting a LAN/WAN environment.
*Recent is defined as experience obtained within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience” refers to the breadth and depth of experience in the IM/IT field that would normally be acquired over a period of six (6) months or more.
